Licence free music for your short film

September 15th, 2009

If you are looking for music to use in  your film these are the steps we suggest – read all the way through as these tips are listed for different levels of filmmaker

1) what editing software are you using? some software comes with free music loops that you can easily add……or

2) if you are musically inclined can you compose something yourself? or

3) ask your school music teacher if they have any royalty free DVDs that you can look through

4) has the battle of the bands comp been through your slocal area recently – you could find some contacts there? The FREEZA website actually lists, and has links, to ALL the Victorian bands that were in the recent battle of the bands that could be a good start for finding some original music. When approaching the band via myspace or email – just make sure you let them know that this is a chance to have their music seen on a film at ACMI – if they agree you will need to get them to sign a music release form that you can download from the Future Shots website

good luck

“The completed films will become historical documents of the attitudes and behaviours of young people before emissions trading begins in Australia,” she said.

Secrets of a good film?

September 7th, 2009

What makes the difference between a good short film and a bad short  film?

Often it’s simple things like the quality of your  sound and vision.

Two pieces of gear you should view as essential for making a top quality film are your microphone and a tripod.  Bad sound and shakey footage are a big turn off when watching a video – this is how you can avoid these problems on your own video. Mics and tripods can both be hired relatively cheaply and will make the world of difference to your film.
